The Dei'ihmorum (IPA:/deɪˈɪ.mʊɹ.ʌm/) are a parasitic speces of slug-like creatures. In their normal form they are not very formidable or intimdating, but they are capable of taking control of the central nervous system of a creature, making the host their slave. Given enough time controlling them, this slug form can also begin to mutate its host, modifying it strange ways. With certain mutations, a host body is converted into a living mass that periodically spawns new offspring. Due to a sort of biological memory that stores specific DNA traits, the offspring from these masses can have traits much different than a normal Dei'ihmorum slug-form. Thanks to these abilities, and the fact that they reproduce at an incredible rate, the Dei'ihmorum were able to topple the control of the Enorisian Empire in the Wyalathor Galaxy during the Dei'ihmorum Xenoconcipium.

Anatomy

In their normal state, the Dei'ihmorum are slimy, crimson slugs that are anywhere between 3 and 7 inches long and 2 to 3 inches wide. They have a series of silver streaks running along their body, most starting and ending at each tip. They have no head, and their eyes are placed at either of their tips, but they have terrible vision. Due to this, Dei'ihmorum use electroreception more than their vision to find suitable hosts, as well as hiding from possible predators.

The bottom of the Dei'ihmorum's body is comprised of a series of small spines, barely visible, that they use to climb objects. Each is controlled by a small group of muscles, though the Dei'ihmorum doesn't control each individual spine, but groups of them at a time. These are also used to take control of the nervous system of a sentient being. The spines can extend away from the body, forming tentacles that they use to infest the central nervous system, taking control of the being.

The viscous slime that covers the slug form is used to reproduce destroyed tissue in creatures that the Dei'ihmorum infests. Generally speaking, the Dei'ihmorum do considerable damage when they dig into a being to infest them. Initially this was used to heal the being because the damage to the creature that was infested could be harmful to the Dei'ihmorum as well. When infesting sapient creatures, though, it is used to hide the fact that they are infested.
